Gyeongsangbuk-do (경상북도)

Gyeongsangbuk-do / 경상북도 (Kuzey Gyeongsang) Güney Kore'nin doğusunda bulunan bir eyalettir.

Eyalet, 1896'da önceki Gyeongsang eyaletinin kuzey yarısından oluşturulmuştur, 1945'te ülkenin bölünmesine kadar bir Kore eyaleti olarak kalmıştır, daha sonra Güney Kore'nin bir parçası olmuştur.

Eyaletin en büyük şehri başkenti olan Daegu'dur. 1896'dan önce ayrı ayrı idareler şeklinde yönetilen Gyeongsang artık bir metropoldür.

Coğrafyası

Eyalet Yeongnam otoyolunun bir kısmı ile, doğusunda Doğu Denizi, güneyinde Gyeongsangnam-do, batısında Jeollabuk-do ve Chungcheongbuk-do eyaleti ve güneyinde ise Gangwon-do ile çevrilidir.

Kültür

Gyeongsangbuk-do Silla krallığının ana merkeziydi. Bu yüzden pek çok gelenek hala yaşatılmaktadır.

Günümüzde pek çok ünlü sanatçı, bilim adamı ve politikacı buradan çıkmaktadır.

Gyeongsangbuk-do (North Gyeongsang) is a province in eastern South Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Gyeongsang province, remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. The provincial capital and largest city is Daegu, which was the capital of Gyeongsang before 1896 and which is separately administered as a provincial-level Metropolitan City today.

Geography and climate

The province is part of the Yeongnam region, and is bounded on the east by the Sea of Japan (East Sea), on the south by Gyeongsangnam-do, on the west by Jeollabuk-do and Chungcheongbuk-do Provinces, and on the north by Gangwon-do Province. During the summer, Gyeongsangbuk-do is perhaps the hottest province in South Korea. This is helped by the fact that the province is largely surrounded by mountains: the Taebaek Mountains in the east and the Sobaek Mountains in the west.

Culture

Gyeongsangbuk-do is the homeland of the former kingdom of Silla and has retained much of its cultural tradition. A number of artists, political leaders and scholars have come from the province.
